This is the first class I have dedicated to taking honors. All of what I mention in the video was all my truthful thoughts. I was a little nervous about the excerpt reading. I was nervous that I was going to mess up so much. I did mess up but it was all kind of funny. I hope that whoever sees this video gets a bit of enjoyment form my learning process. I really enjoy how interesting and challenging this class is. This is the class I've always wanted to push myself more in. I love this class so much. There is never a boring day in Spanish class. The subject is so full of life and just sitting here making this video was enjoyable. I had to redo this video so many times before I felt like I had said everything I needed to. I can't wait for the rest of this semester. There is no doubt in my mind that I made the right choice to do honors for this class.
February - Video 1:
Reflection:
For this video, I decided to have a conversation with myself about food. My mom used to know how to speak Spanish but eventually lost that skill after years of not practicing. I typically feel more comfortable filming on my own in my room so I decided since I didn't have someone to have a conversation with, I would talk to myself. It was actually really fun to film. I definitely enjoyed myself. This video was a first for me and I feel was very comical in a way. This video was definitely very awkward but still a bit funny. I think for my next videos, I'll try to translate different things like song lyrics, excerpts from books, scripts from movies, speeches, etc. I think it would be more fun to film and watch than making up a conversation. I feel that it could be very challenging as well and that's the point of honors. The point is to further challenge your skills in this class.
February - Video 2:
Reflection:
In this video, I translated part of one of my favorite speeches. It was actually a speech shown to us in class. It was a speech written by one of the survivors of the Florida school shooting. It was a very powerful and impactful speech. What she said hit close to my heart and I felt at least part of her message needed to be shared in another language. She is a very strong and influential young woman. I had a challenging but fun time translating this. It made me happy to be able to attempt to share part of her message to those who do not speak English. Hopefully my translations were at least close to what she was saying. I can't be fully sure but I think it's close enough. I could be really far off but I still enjoyed this process. I know my pronunciations were far off but at least I tried my best!
February - Video 3:
Reflection:
For this video, I decided to translate a song. It's a simple love song titled "I Wouldn't Mind" By: He is We. I felt like doing something uplifting and sweet for this video. I had fun seeing how different the song was in another language such as Spanish. Translation is an interesting and difficult process. It does however help me to increase my vocabulary in another language. I think I did a bit of a better job on this translation than I did on the others but I could be wrong. I'll post the song lyrics below this.
Merrily we fall Out of line, out of line I’d fall anywhere with you I’m by your side
Swinging in the rain Humming melodies We're not going anywhere until we freeze
I’m not afraid, anymore I’m not afraid
Forever is a long time But I wouldn't mind spending it by your side
Carefully we're placed for our destiny You came and you took this heart, and set it free Every word you write or sing is so warm to me, so warm to me I’m torn, I’m torn to be right where you are
I’m not afraid, anymore I’m not afraid
Forever is a long time But I wouldn't mind spending it by your side Tell me everyday I get to wake up to that smile I wouldn't mind it at all I wouldn't mind it at all
You so know me Pinch me gently I can hardly breathe
Forever is a long, long time But I wouldn't mind spending it by your side Tell me everyday I get to wake up to that smile I wouldn't mind it at all I wouldn't mind it at all
