Video Reflection When my partner and I first sat down to record, I was horrified. Thankfully my partner was someone that I was very comfortable with. Yet, I thought I was going to forget everything that we had just learned, causing me to make an absolute fool of myself. Once we had starred to record, my nerves suddenly began to fade. They never fully subsided and that's okay. My partner and I had a fairly simple conversation to "get to know each other". Some of the questions we asked were, how are you, what's your name, how old are you, how many siblings do you have, etc. I will admit that I did stutter once or twice during this conversation. After we had finished and the camera was off, my partner and I could see the joy in each other's eyes. We felt that we had really improved within the last few weeks.
Video 2 Reflection My initial expectations for this class was that it was going to be extremely difficult for me. I will say that this class can be fairly challenging but it is still fun. There are actually times where I feel like I'm picking up on things pretty well. If I were to rate my enthusiasm for leaning Spanish on a scale of 1-10, I would probably give it a solid 7. I was excited to learn another language so that I could communicate a lot more with part of my family. A portion of my family speaks mostly Spanish and very little English. I will say that I was terrified when I first came into this class because I was unsure of how I was going to do. I felt like I would be having a more difficult time than most of my peers. I have been doing a lot better in this class than I thought I was. I honestly don't have anything specific on what I'm excited to learn this semester. I'm just really excited to learn as much Spanish as we can in this short amount of time we have. One improvement that I have made from my last video was that I have learned a few more questions and their responses. In my first video, I was a lo louder and my conversation wasn't as monotone as my second video. But I will also state that there were some words that I couldn't pronounce correctly at first but after hearing people say them enough times, I finally figured out the correct pronunciation of those words and phrases.
I chose to work with my partner because we both really enjoy music and we both thought that would be a great topic to talk about. We’ve also worked really well together in the past. My partner also really pushes me to study and get the conversation down. For example, she pushed the both of us to switch up some of the band names and also to switch some lines with one another so we could really comprehend what we were saying. We weren’t just memorizing lines, we were getting a better grasp on what we were saying. On a scale of 1-10 of how comfortable I feel about basic conversations, I feel that I am at least a 7. When I walked in on the first day, I only knew a few sentences and how to count to 10. I now know a few basic sentence starters and responses. I currently feel that I have an easier time with understanding a conversation. I have a harder time with pronunciation and formulating a response.
