At the start of this project, I knew next to nothing about monologues. I didn't know that monologues were small speeches that character says to an audience or themselves. I was completely clueless. I was terrified when we were told we were each going to write one. I had no confidence in myself about writing mine. I tried to complete the brainstorm sheets before writing but I eventually gave up on that and went straight to writing. At the beginning of my monologue, my character was talking about the person they are talking to and how that person goes into this spiral of dark feelings. It goes into more detail about this as the monologue goes on. Eventually, it talks about how this person shouldn't be blaming themselves. They should be trying to find something that brings positivity to their life and to draw strength from that to help others who are stuck in the same place. That's kind of where the monologue ends. There was no direct person the character was talking to that was mentioned. According to my teacher, I wrote a fairly abstract monologue. I'm actually quite happy with the final results of my monologue. I went from having no confidence in myself to write this piece to writing something I am proud to call mine.
