I think the greatest tool I've used to enhance my vocabulary would have to be spanishdict.com. If I need a word translated, I can just go to that website and it'll give me the definition and multiple translations. It also shows me how to say the word with an audio recording. I have also asked my teacher how to say sentences in the past or how to pronounce a word.I encourage my partner and myself to practice more with one another when we're home. I'll text her to see if she wants to go on a call and practice. My goal was to show how I have improved. On the first day of class, I knew little to nothing and I was terrified to even go to the class. After only a semester of Spanish and having conversations in front of the class, I fell a lot more comfortable. Everyone has sort of been going at their own pace. Getting to hear some of my classmates practice has taught me new vocabulary on more than one occasion. Or when my teacher had a conversation with me, I'm able to pick out key words and guess what they mean. I feel like if I were to have a conversation in Spanish with someone I've never met, I feel like it would be very difficult to understand most of what the may say. I think they would be able to understand a majority of what I'm saying. We would probably have to work together to understand one another. I would like to discuss the topics of animals, friends, family, careers, collages, and more. There are so many things I would love to talk about but it's hard when you only got to have a single semester of Spanish. I chose my friend Hannah as my partner because we actually work really well together and we actually get things done. We accomplish what we need to get done and we do it on time. I am also very comfortable with working with her and having conversations with her. She also really pushes me to say more than just a simple sentence or just "I agree" or "Me too". I haven't watched showed or movies in Spanish but I have listened to Spanish radio once but I couldn't really understand any of what they were saying because they spoke so fast. I'll typically call my friend Hannah and we'll have a practice conversation or two or if she is unavailable, I'll sort of have a conversation with myself that covers what we have just learned. When making connections to the articles we read in class, I would look for words that sounded similar to some English words and make a guess that those words meant the same thing. I would also look for words that I already knew to piece together what might be happening in that article.
In this video, Hannah and I felt much more prepared and I feel that we spoke a little clearer in this video. In the previous video, we were both a bit nervous every and didn't really know what to talk about. We were also having a harder time forming clear sentences. I feel that the change/progress is very clear between the two videos. It definitely helped that my partner and I were calling each other at night to practice and that we were constantly pushing one another. A large tool we used to help us throughout the year was spanishdict.com. Whenever we didn't know what a word meant or how to pronounce it, we could always go to that website when preparing and practicing.
